Window Dormer

Dormer conversions are created by making an opening in the existing roof section and adding a new ‘box like’ structure that spans the property and sits on the slope line, normally at the rear of the property with Velux windows positioned in the front. It also has an option to add French doors, Juliet balcony or terrace depending on the size. The advantage of this dormer is added extra space, head height and natural light in the loft area, because it dramatically increases the potential of the newly created space. It can be used for a new bedroom, playroom for your children or even an en suite bedroom, depending on the size of the space.

Skylight Loft Conversion

The skylight loft conversion design provides more natural light to existing loft space with minimal construction work. Installed roof lights can usually be placed on the front and rear roof slope. Owning a detached house can be beneficial because its side slopes of the roof can also have extra roof lights. Such loft conversions are the simplest and most inexpensive for homeowners. The process is quicker for such type of conversions as there are not many internal and external changes.

Hip to Gable

A roof that has 3 sloping sides, typically of the Edwardian era, is called a 'hipped' roof. Such roofs have limited amount of loft space available for conversion. To resolve this issue, the 'hipped' roof is extended to create a gable (a triangular space, where the end of brickwork meets the roofline for normal pitch roofs). Once this ‘Hip to Gable’ conversion form is completed, a larger internal space is available for you to choose a roof window, dormer or mansard.

Rear Mansard Loft Conversion

If transforming your loft space into a dormer is strictly prohibited, then usually building a mansard is the best option to follow. Mansard loft has a 70 degree angle and is accepted as roof, but not wall. This sloped roof meets with the flat roof at the ridge level and windows or doors are placed as small dormers. Therefore you can choose what to install, whether it’s French doors, skylight windows or simple dormer windows.
